Fourth of July Style Guide

"Where liberty dwells, there is my country." - Benjamin Franklin

Happy Fourth of July! The Fourth of July is the perfect time to show off those patriotic colors and to spend some time with friends and family. If you're planning on attending a BBQ, a Fourth of July party, or any other event, here are my top 10 items for this fun holiday!

1. Bows
Bows are one of the easiest things to use to change up any hairstyle. Throw your hair up in a ponytail or try out a braided hairstyle, then add a bow to it. Check out these bow hair clips from Forever 21 for extremely affordable and patriotic bows!

2. Crop Tops
Crop tops have been all the rage this year, especially during this time of the year when it's blazing hot outside (especially if you're living here in Cali!). If you want to stick to the basics and go classic, pair a red/white/blue crop top with a pair of ripped denim shorts/jeans (preferably highwaisted). You can't go wrong with this classic look!

3. Sun Hat
If you're headed to a pool party or a BBQ this July 4th, chances are you'll be in the sun a lot. Luckily, sun hats can be easily incorporated into any outfit, and will help protect you from the sun. This scalloped straw sun hat from Forever 21 is perfect for almost any outfit!

4. Aviators
You can't go wrong with a pair of classic aviators for the Fourth of July! This pair from Forever 21 is perfect with the Stars & Stripes; plus, it's super affordable!

5. Denim Skirt
If the classic denim shorts/jeans is too basic for you, dress it up with a denim circle skirt for a more girly look. This denim skirt from American Apparel is perfect for the Fourth of July. I would recommend the Dark Wash Indigo or Medium Stone Wash Indigo shades.

6. Lace
Whether it's a lace shirt, skirt, or a pair of shorts, an outfit with lace is perfect for this holiday. American Eagle's lace hem tank is the perfect summer top for a Fourth of July event. Better yet, go for a casual lace halter dress like this one from Forever 21. The halter creates a more unique feel, but the subtle lace keeps it casual. When wearing white lace, try pairing it with a mix of different gold jewelry pieces.

7. Flannels
Flannels give off the perfect summer vibe. Luckily, most flannels come in shades of red/white/blue so it's not too hard to turn your casual flannel into the perfect Fourth of July outfit! Check out this cropped flannel for a more polished look, or layer this flannel over a plain white tee or any lace shirt!

8. Nail Polish
If you want to keep it subtle but still show off some patriotic colors, go for nail polish! Butter London nail polishes never fail to impress me, and this shade is no different. Try finding a quality cream or white nail polish because the color will match almost any outfit.

9. Maxis
Maxis are an easy way to dress up without having to try too hard. Not only are they simple, chic, and extremely comfortable, they can be dressed up or down! This maxi from Forever 21 is perfect with the navy and cream color combo. Dress it up by layering on necklaces and a structured jacket or go casual with a sun hat or fedora.

10. Florals
Don't want to go all out with patriotic colors? No worries, try some outfits with floral print! This will still give off that chill summer vibe. Go for lighter colors if you're looking to keep it casual throughout the day, like this dress from Brandy Melville. If you're looking for darker florals, this one might be the perfect one for you!

I hope this style guide helped some of you out! Have a fantastic Fourth of July!
